Well Link Insurance Group Donates HK$1M To Support Development of Local Production Capability for Surgical Masks

12 February 2020, Hong Kong.  Mr. KP Chan, CEO of Well Link Insurance Group Holdings Limited announced today that the Group (including Well Link Life Insurance and Well Link General Insurance) is donating HK$1million to FTU Employment Development Service Limited to support the establishment of a facility with high hygiene standards for the production of surgical masks in Hong Kong.  The donation is drawn from the HK$5million fund allocated by the Group for the battle against the novel coronavirus.  The ‘made in Hong Kong’ surgical masks will be given away free to the elderly, underprivileged and those in urgent need.  A cheque presentation ceremony will be conducted next week.

“Amid these challenging times for Hong Kong, it is critical that we stay united,” explained Mr. Chan. “By coming together and working as one community, as we did during SARS, we will give a good account of Hong Kong’s courageous and can-do spirit. In solidarity, we shall prevail.”  Well Link Insurance Group also expresses its heartfelt gratitude to all medical professionals, social welfare workers and community workers for their commitment and contributions which are invaluable to helping Hong Kong overcome this health crisis.

Today’s announcement follows the Group’s recent commitment announced on 27 January to donate a total of HK$10 million to counter the spread of the novel coronavirus.  HK$5 million has been allocated to Hong Kong and the other HK$5 million donated to Hubei Province, including provincial capital Wuhan, to combat the spread of the infectious disease.  Well Link Insurance Group has donated the money to relevant parties today through the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.  It is hoped that the donation will assist Hong Kong and mainland China in the fight against the novel coronavirus epidemic.
